‘New Appliances Put Sales in the Black’
By: York Real Estate Group
Sometimes, keeping up with the latest trends turns out to be worth the money you invest. The latest in appliance and plumbing finishes is called “Satin Black,” “Matte Black,” “Black Satin,” or various other similar names by different manufacturers, and its instant appeal has clinched a sale for more than one iffy buyer.
The dark finish is described as the “satiny luster of brushed steel with a warm, neutral tone” by KitchenAid, which was the first company to introduce the new color. Samsung, LG, and Kohler soon followed suit. The non-shiny black or dark slate stainless steel finish is said to rebuff smudges and fingerprints with a protective coating, and is easily cleaned with just a dry cloth.
Manufacturers tout the shade to match popular wrought-iron detailing, and claim it also pairs well with brightly-colored sinks. According to Beth Robinson, senior brand experience manager for KitchenAid, "Major appliances are the anchor pieces of a kitchen, and their color and design contribute largely to the overall look of the space. As a stylish alternative to traditional finishes, our black stainless steel offers designers and consumers tremendous design flexibility and the chance to experiment with fresh ideas."
If you’re ready to freshen up the appearance of your kitchen and/or bath, give the new color a look-see—and give us a call with your buying or selling questions.
